Subject: Holed Out Date: Sat, 9 May 1998 14:26:57 +0100 From: "michael" I have converted all of the Holed Out games to the standard WS archive format. Each course is in a separate zipped file. The game will now load quicker as well. Usually, each hole is created every time the game is loaded. For example of Pine Isles, the hole information is stored in PINE1 and PINE2. The code in these files takes the read only attribute off all of the M. files, and saves the contents of PINE1 and PINE2 as the hole information. By running this once, you have a set of maps, which don't need altering. I think that this method would have been employed because of the lack of spaces for files to be allocated, and it makes the code standard for future versions. One fault with using this method is that the files PINE1 and PINE2 are not there for the Master Version to load, but as there is no Master emulator currently available, I didn't think it mattered. If you are interested, I can send the WS archive of the first Holed Out disk, with Cone Links and Pine Isles, which has had the protection removed. I hope you don't mind receiving a large mail.
